The Challenge
A 45-room hotel in Pefkos had a lobby problem: guests checked in, walked straight to their rooms, and never returned to the ground floor. The 280m² lobby felt cavernous and impersonal — a transit space rather than a destination. The hotel owner wanted to transform it into a social hub that would extend guest stays, increase food & beverage revenue, and become a signature experience worth mentioning in reviews.

Our Approach
We broke the single open volume into five intimate zones using freestanding walnut bookshelves as spatial dividers — creating a library atmosphere without adding walls. Custom reading nooks with integrated lighting were designed at varying scales: from solo armchairs to group seating for six. A central fireplace anchors the space, visible from every zone. The material palette — aged leather, brushed brass, and hand-selected books — was curated to feel like a private collection rather than a hotel amenity.

The Result
Within three months of reopening, the average guest lobby time increased from 45 minutes to over 2 hours — a 180% improvement. The hotel's TripAdvisor score rose from 4.2 to 4.8, with the Library Lounge mentioned in 73% of new reviews. Food & beverage revenue from the lobby area increased by 220%. The redesign paid for itself within the first season.

“Our guests now spend twice as long in the lounge as they did before the redesign. Review scores jumped from 4.2 to 4.8 on all platforms. One guest wrote that the library alone was worth the trip — that is the power of thoughtful design.”
